The Bruery

I went to a local brewery, The Bruery in Placentia and imbibed a few craft beers.

It was so packed in there, I stood randomly near the registers and got out there quick.

Took home a growler of Frucht Boysenberry Terraux sour, which was the best of the day by far.

Also ate at a food truck for the first time (that wasn’t on a construction job site) and it was delicious.

DTSA Artwalk

My friend invited on a photowalk through the Downtown Santa Ana Artwalk.

Stopped by Left of the Dial Records.

Rounded off the evening at Native Sons Alehouse.

2017 Fool’s Festival

My friend invited me to the Fool’s Festival in Santa Ana at the Yost theatre.

Such a wild show with some of the most bizarre acts I’ve ever seen.

Dangerous Darin Malfi and his wife Madeleine stole the show.

Grand Complications

Grand Complications: 50 Guitars and 50 Stories from Inlay Artist William “Grit” Laskin

Review to come.

Claude Bell’s Dinosaurs

My friend offered to make Stop #4 in Cabazon so I could see the dinosaurs.

This place holds a very special place in my heart for nostalgic reasons.

My parents would stop here every time we returned to California from Mexico.

I learned how to tell time from an analog dinosaur clock my mom bought for me here.

I’m so thankful they’re still there and in pretty good shape for being 42-years old.

Definitely my favorite part of the day and a fitting end to an awesome trip.

International Banana Museum

After a close-up look at the Salton Sea, we decided to head home.

Driving down the road, we saw this Banana Robot statue and had to make Stop #3.

I would never go out of my way to visit, but it’s worth a stop if you’re passing by.

One head-scratcher, my chocolate banana milkshake did not contain bananas…

The owners seemed a few bananas shy of a full bunch.

Slab City

I’m glad to have suggested the second stop of the trip; Slab City.

My first time there was in 2008, after I saw the film, ‘Into the Wild’.

“Nothing lasts forever.” Especially when people are climbing all over it.

What was once a beautiful landmark for freedom is now just another spot to check-in on Yelp.

If you live anywhere near Southern California, you should go check check this out before it’s gone.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

My friend invited me to check out the wildflower super bloom in the high desert.

Awesome first stop of our day trip.

Played Labyrinth for game night.

Really fun strategic board game that uses cards and tiles.
